Science

At Stroud School we aim for children to:

Learn how to investigate the world around them.

Learn to interpret the world around them by using scientific ideas.

Acquire a body of knowledge to help develop their understanding of the world about them.

We achieve these aims by involving children in using the relevant process skills of science which are appropriate to their age, ability and the task. During lessons children are taught the skills of observing, measuring, hypothesising and predicting. Children are encouraged to learn these skills through a variety of carefully planned practical work.

They are taught to plan and carry out fair tests, interpret results and findings and communicate their findings using scientific vocabulary. By questioning and discussing science- based issues, children will appreciate how science affects their own lives, the direction of society and the future of the world.
