Children are given the opportunity to learn about the world around them through a wide variety of excursions. Trips are linked to the curriculum and are a valuable part of children’s learning. Not only do children enhance their subject knowledge, but they learn key life skills such as teamwork and learning to be more independent.
Excursions begin in Nursery, with a trip to Marwell Zoo, Winchester. As children progress through the school, we make the most of the museums, historical sites and places of interest within the accessible area. Recent trips include Portchester Castle, Tutankhamun Exhibition, Romsey Abbey, Winchester City Mill, and the Imperial War Museum in London.
Residential trips are an important part of children’s education as well as their social development. Children begin residential trips in Year 4.
Children are also given the opportunity to experience outdoor pursuits during trips to Dartmoor and Shropshire.
Highlights of the children’s time at Stroud include the trip to Barcelona in Years 7 and 8, and a bi-annual skiing trip, open to all year groups.
In addition, throughout the year there are visits to school from musicians, theatre groups, Roman Centurions and Medieval Knights!
