Stroud Independent Prep School has an excellent academic record and has similarly high expectations in sport, music, drama, the arts and many extra-curricular activities. The school relies very much on teamwork - the team being made up of teachers, administrative, catering, maintenance and domestic staff. This ethos of working as a team and being considerate of others is stressed throughout the children's education. A Christian tradition runs through the prep school; the assemblies are taken by staff, pupils or visiting clergy from local parishes.
The annual carol service takes place in Romsey Abbey. Children are made aware of other faiths in their Religious Education curriculum.
The school was founded at Stroud House, Grayswood, Surrey in 1926. In 1946 it moved to Zeals House, Mere, Wiltshire, and finally settled in 1953 at its present location between Romsey and Winchester, Hampshire. In 1958 the school was formed into a Limited Company and has since been under the control of a Board of Governors, The Head is a member of IAPS and the school is accredited by ISC.
